Family Solutions Key Worker

Job Description

I am currently recruiting for a family solutions worker to work in Brent.

This role is initially for 3 months and requires applying candidates to have an enhanced DBS.

Job Purpose:

  1. To provide a 7 day a week flexible, intensive intervention service operating between the hours of 7am-7pm to empower families with complex needs.
  2. The objective is to achieve measurable and sustainable outcomes for families, children and young people using a whole family approach, which incorporates using Brent CYP Practice Framework (including Signs of Safety).
  3. In partnership with families and other agencies undertake assessments to deliver intensive support and robust challenge to families experiencing multiple disadvantage (crime and anti-social behaviour, education issues, at risk of financial exclusion, domestic abuse, health needs/addictions and children impacted by all above).
  4. To adopt a whole family approach to working with families and develop sufficient resilience to bring about sustainable outcomes.
  5. To support a complex child and family workload, which includes children referred through Early Help Assessment (EHA) processes, Step Down from Social Care, referrals from Brent Family Front Door or any new processes developed.
  6. To work in an inclusive and respectful way that ensures all family members are listened to, included in the assessment/review/planning process and their cultural and individual needs are taken account of throughout the engagement the families.
  7. To work in partnership with local schools to facilitate early intervention for their children; to promote parenting programmes and relevant training for their staff.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  1. To undertake comprehensive whole family assessments, (including EHA assessments, Outcome Star), identifying the support needs of a family; to develop detailed innovative action plans in response to the whole family needs and to achieve the aims of the service; where possible assessments to be built on other professional assessments to avoid duplication.
  2. To develop strong appropriate relationships with families and facilitate change. This requires

the development and use of a range of approaches to engage and build effective working relationships with parents and their children.
