Job Description

One of the largest housing associations in the East Midlands is recruiting for a Floating Support Worker to join their new floating support service for people with mental health and drug and alcohol related issues in Leicestershire.

The Service
This Floating Support Service will operate across Charnwood, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, Oadby & Wigston, Blaby, Hinckley & Bosworth and North West Leicestershire and dedicated Floating Support Workers will focus on preventing vulnerable people from losing their home, manage dual diagnosis issues and promote recovery and support setting up new homes after a hospital discharge or homelessness

The Role
The focus of this Floating Support Worker is to prevent vulnerable service users from losing their home and key responsibilities will include
Supporting service users / tenants to express themselves and make informed choices and decisions about their lives in a way that respects their dignity and rights.
Devise and implement individual care and/or support plans with risk assessments that are not risk averse. These may include one or more of the following examples:

  • Living as independently as possible
  • Maintaining good health and hygiene, administering medications and personal care e.g. dressing, washing, shaving and going to the toilet
  • Accessing work, education or training
  • Enjoying leisure time, activities and cultural beliefs in the community
  • Keeping in touch with family and friends and making new friends
  • Key work named service users
  • Carry out or assist in cooking and other domestic/cleaning tasks.



The Candidate
To be considered for this Floating Support Worker role you will require previous experience of working with vulnerable service users with mid to complex support needs, and have excellent knowledge of welfare benefits including housing benefits, jobseeker's allowance and universal credit.
As this is a floating role, a driving license and access to a vehicle will be essential.

The Contract
This is a permanent, full time Floating Support Worker, offering a salary of £20,315. The role will be 8am-3.30pm, 9am-4.30pm or 10am-5pm Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work evenings on request and weekends as required.
