Job Description

Role Title: Maintenance Operative
Pay Rate: £18 per hour
Responsible for: Repairs and Maintenance
Location: West London

Role Purpose
Join our team at as a Maintenance Operative to assist in providing an efficient repairs service for our properties. Your role will be crucial in ensuring compliance with maintenance policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on equal opportunities and quality client service.

Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Report daily to the Supervisor and execute maintenance inspections and urgent works.
  • Assist team members and external contractors on complex repair tasks.
  • Supervise external contractors, ensuring quality completion of repairs and report any issues.
  • Manage ordering and collection of necessary repair materials.
  • Maintain accurate daily timesheets and handle emergency repair situations.

General Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in maintenance operations.
  • Adhere to and implement policies on Health and Safety, Confidentiality, and Code of Conduct.
  • Advise and assist staff on maintenance services.
  • Engage in training and represent Providence Row in maintenance matters.
  • Be willing to work flexibly across Providence Row's properties, including occasional late or outside usual hours.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in caretaking or similar roles handyman roles preferred (basic plumbing, flooring, carpentry, flooring, changing sockets light bulbs). However, suitability for the role will be considered.
  • Experience in overseeing external contractors and performing minor repairs.
  • Familiarity with the social housing sector is hugely beneficial for the role.

Skills and Abilities

  • Competence in building maintenance.
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills.
  • Ability to organise workload independently.
  • Must have used PDA device.
  • Proficient in record-keeping and issuing instructions.
  • Full UK Driving Licence. DBS Check Required
  • Physical fitness and ability to work off ladders.
  • Basic IT skills and understanding of building maintenance.
