Head of Curriculum & Quality – Vocational and Creative

Location: Sutton
Contract: 3-Month Initial Contract
Hours: 36 hours per week
Rate: £26 per hour (umbrella) (£20 PAYE an hour)


Sutton Council is seeking to appoint an inspiring and results-driven Head of Curriculum & Quality – Vocational and Creative to lead a dynamic team of educators and support staff in shaping the future of adult learning and skills in the borough.
This is a key leadership opportunity for someone passionate about delivering exceptional teaching and learning outcomes and driving quality and innovation in vocational and creative education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of tutors, assessors, IQAs and sessional staff across a range of programmes within the Vocational and Creative Department.
  • Oversee curriculum delivery to ensure alignment with KPIs, the College’s strategic priorities, and the Council’s wider educational mission.
  • Drive continuous improvement and quality control processes to ensure exceptional learner experiences.
  • Contribute to the development, growth and long-term sustainability of the curriculum offer.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with employers, community organisations, and key stakeholders to support learner progression and employment pathways.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative ventures that generate income, attract new funding, and improve service sustainability.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven leadership experience within a curriculum and quality-focused education setting, preferably in further education or adult learning.
  • Demonstrable expertise in developing and managing high-quality vocational and creative programmes.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and improvement frameworks in education.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align curriculum delivery with wider corporate and community objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in forging successful partnerships across sectors.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and supporting staff to achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
