Salary – £21.88 LTD / £17.30 PAYE per hour
Role summary –
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority for a Housing Options Officer to support individuals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping. This is a specialist role focusing on prevention, providing person-centred advice, and delivering effective outcomes through partnership working and legal assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess housing applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act.
- Provide expert advice on complex housing needs and homelessness prevention.
- Lead multi-agency case meetings and support plans for vulnerable clients.
- Work with outreach and support services to assist rough sleepers into accommodation.
- Manage a caseload and produce personal housing plans with effective record keeping.
- Contribute to the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) when required.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
- Level 4 Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of homelessness legislation and housing options.
- Experience supporting vulnerable clients (e.g., domestic abuse survivors, mental health, substance misuse).
- Skilled in managing caseloads and multi-agency working.
- Enhanced DBS and ability to travel within the area.
- Flexible approach including participation in a 24-hour on-call rota.
