We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Housing Officer to join our team in Dorset, as a Housing Team leader on a full-time temporary basis with an initial period of 3 months. The Housing Team Leader will aid in supporting complex cases and decision making. The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service skills, and be passionate about helping those suffering from homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Please note a full Enhanced DBS, as well as UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle are required for this role.
Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within Housing Management, or long term Housing Officer experience
  • Previous experience of staff management or supervision
  • Knowledge of housing legislation, especially relating to homelessness
  • Knowledge of income management and best procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines
  • Full Enhanced DBS certificate
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle

Role Expectations

  • Provide a comprehensive housing management service to households in emergency and temporary accommodation
  • Support customers and staff in the collection of rent and licence charges and other housing debt, ensuring suitability forms are completed within times scales
  • Lead and coordinate the void management process for all of the council's temporary accommodation stock to avoid delays in nominations and reduce void turnaround
  • To ensure officers monitor the conditions of the communal parts of the councils temporary accommodation
  • Undertake sample audits in all areas of property management, evaluating the standard of work being delivered, and ensuring housing management processes are being followed
  • Carry out scheme and tenant visits as required
  • Develop effective relationships with key partners including other officers, agencies, and contractors
  • Maintain records and documents needed for any Court action. Attend Court hearings where necessary
