Information and Communications Officer

A Client within the Public Sector is currently recruiting for a Information and Communications Officer to join their transport team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will have extensive experience working within the Marketing, Information or Communications are ideally within a public sector environment.

The purpose of the role is to work in a busy and dynamic communications and engagement team, you'll help manage and maintain the teams relationships with a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • Responsible for collating, investigating and providing high quality responses to correspondence from senior stakeholders such as Members of Parliament, Assembly Members and TPH trade representatives.
  • Contribute to a database of correspondence received and responded to, monitoring performance and ensuring that responses are produced in a timely manner.
  • Identify potential risks and sensitivities, suggest mitigation and recommend an approach on emerging issues - advising the Taxi and Private Hire Stakeholder Lead, General Manager of Taxi and Private Hire, other internal stakeholders and communications colleagues.
  • Support the Taxi and Private Hire Stakeholder Lead and General Manager of Taxi and Private Hire by co-ordinating engagement activities and meetings, preparing briefing papers and presentations, ensure actions are followed up and closed.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience (essential)
  • Excellent understanding of communications/public relations techniques and best practice (essential)
  • Good understanding of transport issues, in particular taxi and private hire (desirable)
  • Good understanding of the public sector environment (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of political environment in which TPH operates (essential)
  • Experience in corporate/internal communications, PR and/or customer communications, preferably in the public sector (essential)
  • Experience of working in highly sensitive and political environment (essential)
  • Experience in producing high quality, concise responses to politically and commercially sensitive enquiries (essential)
  • Experience in managing VIP correspondence in a Government department or a comparable organisation (desirable)


The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £200 - £230p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £666 - £743 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
