Southwark Council is looking for an experienced Marketing Communications and Engagement Officer to support our fostering recruitment programme through the development and delivery of a strategic, targeted, and inspiring marketing and communications plan.
This is a vital opportunity to support life-changing work, helping us attract and engage foster carers across the borough. You'll work seamlessly across both the Communications Team and Children’s Services, ensuring a joined-up, insight-led approach that drives meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a comprehensive marketing, communications and engagement strategy for fostering recruitment.
- Produce engaging and persuasive copy for a range of digital and offline channels.
- Manage and optimise digital advertising campaigns, including paid social and targeted web content.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure consistent messaging and a unified approach to engagement.
- Work 3 days a week in the Southwark borough, engaging directly with service teams and local communities.
- Strong knowledge of online and offline marketing techniques, with the ability to deploy and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Educated to degree level, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, knowledge, and aptitude.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver an effective marketing, communications, and engagement plan.
- Demonstrable understanding of local government operations and the broader public sector context.
- A solid understanding of fostering and children’s services and the sensitivities involved in recruitment.
- Experience using a wide range of communication channels to connect with diverse audiences.
- A track record of delivering inspiring, strategic campaigns that achieve measurable outcomes.
