Job Opportunity: Mobile Road & Traffic Enforcement Officer
Location: London Borough of Hackney
Salary: £19.80 per hour
The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mobile Road & Traffic Enforcement Officer to join our dynamic Parking & Markets Services team within the Climate, Homes, and Economy Directorate.
About the Role:
As a Mobile Road & Traffic Enforcement Officer, you will play a crucial role in enforcing parking regulations, reducing traffic congestion, improving road safety, and enhancing air quality throughout the borough. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the community while working within a supportive and collaborative team.
Responsibilities:
Enforcement Activities: Patrol designated routes within the borough, issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) in compliance with Council policy and legislative procedure.
Account Management: Act as an ambassador for the Council, maintaining strong relationships with the Metropolitan Police and Counter Terror Police, as well as collaborating with various internal departments.
Community Engagement: Be the first point of contact for residents, businesses, and visitors while on street performing enforcement duties. Provide expert advice and guidance on matters related to traffic and parking restrictions.
Reporting and Documentation: Monitor and report on issues seen while patrolling the borough's streets, including littering, fly-tipping, illegal street trading, and other street-related duties. Maintain accurate records to support the enforcement of parking, traffic, and related regulations.
Training and Development: Undergo necessary training to become a qualified first aider and stay fully up-to-date with legislation, regulations, and developments affecting the service.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous work experience in a customer service environment is essential. Experience in traffic and parking enforcement, account management, or recruitment is highly desirable.
Education: Good general standard of education, including GCSEs at Grade C or above in Maths and English. HNC or NVQ Level 5 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Licenses: Full UK driver's license for category A and/or valid CBT for riding a solo motorcycle; full UK driver's license for category B.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong geographical knowledge of the Hackney borough.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively in partnership teams.
