Pay: £20 per hour (umbrella) (£16 PAYE an hour)
About the Role: Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Leaving Care Personal Advisor to provide tailored support services to care-experienced young people transitioning into adulthood. Based in Shefford, this is a pivotal role supporting young people in achieving independence across areas such as education, employment, accommodation, health, and personal wellbeing.
You will work closely with young people, developing and reviewing comprehensive Pathway Plans and providing ongoing support, advice, and guidance in line with statutory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of young people aged 16–25 who are leaving care.
- Complete Pathway Assessments and Plans, ensuring they are holistic, strength-based, and reflective of the young person’s voice.
- Coordinate and monitor support across key areas such as education, employment, accommodation, health, practical life skills, and personal development.
- Liaise with professionals, carers, and support services to ensure continuity and quality of care and planning.
- Offer practical support, emotional guidance, and advocacy to care leavers.
- Respond to requests for assistance and determine appropriate levels of intervention.
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records and reports in accordance with service standards.
- Experience working with care-experienced young people or vulnerable adolescents.
- Understanding of the Pathway Planning process and statutory responsibilities under the Children (Leaving Care) Act.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
- Own vehicle and willingness to travel across the county is essential.
- Ability to collect and return IT equipment in person to Priory House, Shefford.
- This role is initially for 3 months with potential for extension.
- IT equipment must be collected from and returned to Priory House, Shefford in person (or via tracked courier after the assignment).
- This position is subject to enhanced DBS clearance and Safer Recruitment checks.
