Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Hertfordshire area who are seeking a Planning Lawyer to join their team on a permanent basis. Please find below further details regarding the position and the person specification.

ROLE: Planning Lawyer
LOCATION: Hertfordshire
SALARY: £42,614 to £52,512 per annum

The Role

  • To manage and progress a full caseload of Planning Law matters through to completion
  • Caseloads will include planning disputes, section 106 agreements, providing advice and support on planning law issues, drafting agreements and article 4 directions
  • To negotiate, draft and deal with agreements under s.106 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and any other related agreements
  • To act as the Council's lead advocate at Public Inquiries before the Planning Inspectorate, where appropriate
  • To assist more junior members of staff when required to do so

The Person

  • A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with PQE within Planning Law
  • Strong technical knowledge around Planning Law is essential
  • Previous public sector working experience would be highly desirable but not essential
  • Experience in effective handling of case load relating to planning law work
  • A can do and customer focused approach and attitude
