About the Role We’re currently seeking an experienced and passionate Principal Youth Offending Service Practitioner to join the London Borough of Havering's Youth Offending Service (YOS). This hybrid role offers the chance to work within a dedicated and evolving team, committed to reducing youth offending and supporting positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on complex cases, offering expert guidance and supervision to team members.
- Complete detailed assessments and develop effective intervention and supervision plans.
- Write comprehensive reports for courts, panels, and professional settings.
- Represent the YOS and the Local Authority in criminal court proceedings and multi-agency meetings.
- Provide non-negotiable, targeted support to young people to prevent reoffending.
- Engage directly with children, families, and partner agencies to facilitate meaningful change.
- In-depth knowledge of the Youth Justice System and its legislative framework.
- Proven experience working in youth offending, youth work, or offender supervision (paid or voluntary).
- Prior supervisory experience or acting in a leadership capacity.
- Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, particularly with young people.
- Excellent report writing and assessment skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and proactively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
- Access to systemic training and development pathways.
