Project Engineer

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a transport environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to design new highway construction schemes within the Traffic, Engineering and Design team.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Being responsible for project management for the delivery of major projects and schemes
  • Facilitate the legal agreement, design reviews and checks and monitoring of S278 schemes.
  • Providing advice to Councillors, committees, public inquiries, other services, private developers and the public on highway design, construction and traffic management.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require appropriate technical qualification (eg HND or equivalent in civil engineering) OR demonstrate the equivalent level of theoretical, technical and procedural knowledge.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Substantial personal development of skills and knowledge to equivalent of IEng level
  • Comprehensive experience in Highway Construction, and / or Maintenance
  • Good understanding of computer software applicable to construction and construction management, (AutoCad, Key Systems etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of the project management and project delivery processes

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £30 - £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
