Property Surveyor

A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Property Surveyor to join their commercial portfolio management team.

This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will be a qualified RICS professional property surveyor skilled in general property matters including commercial portfolio management , valuations, Landlord and Tenant Law , Rating, Disposals and Acquisitions, project work and advisory guidance.

The purpose of the role is to join the Disposals & Acquisition Team and provide advice to the Council on the management and development of those assets - including the disposal of assets which have been identified as surplus and so available for disposal.

The main responsibilities of the role:

The team also contributes to the Council's regeneration projects and initiatives, major/minor highway improvement schemes and housing projects. In addition the team has responsibility for the management of the Council's commercial estate of 400 property leases and over 700 land leases.

The Disposals & Acquisitions Surveyor will be based in this Team undertaking, and advising on, the disposal of the Council's surplus land and property assets as well as providing advice on strategic land and property matters. As part of this role you will be expected to support and provide advice on the implementation of major regeneration schemes being undertaken throughout the area as well as supporting other corporate initiatives proposed by the various Council services. You will be expected to play a role in a number of multi-disciplinary teams bringing forward major schemes including town centre renewal, retail development, commercial development and housing projects.

Requirements:

  • Full professional qualification in a surveying discipline (MRICS) with considerable post qualification experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the law relating to land and property and valuation methods.
  • Ability to certify property transactions.
  • Experience of providing financial advice for budgeting purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team to achieve specific project aims.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £20 - £25p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £510 - £620 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
