Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council who are seeking a Prosecutions Lawyer to join the housing and litigation team on a 6 month contract. Please find below further details with regards to this.
 
ROLE:                  Prosecutions Lawyer (Housing & Litigation)
RATE:                   £35 to £40 per hour – (£35.71ph PAYE inc. holiday pay, £31.86ph PAYE exc. holiday pay)
LOCATION:         South East London
CONTRACT:        6 months with possibility of extension
 
Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week.
 
The Role:
 
As a Prosecutions Lawyer, you’ll be handling a diverse and busy caseload covering a wide range of criminal and regulatory matters, including:
  • Housing Act offences (e.g. rogue landlords)
  • Environmental health breaches
  • Planning enforcement
  • Licensing issues
  • Anti-social behaviour and closure orders
You’ll be advising council departments, drafting enforcement documents, and representing the council in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, so a strong grounding in criminal litigation and advocacy is key.
 
The Person:
 
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (with a valid practising certificate)
  • Strong experience in local authority prosecutions or regulatory enforcement work
  • Confident in court advocacy, particularly in Magistrates’ Court
  • Solid knowledge of relevant legislation (Housing Act, Environmental Protection Act, etc.)
