Residential Support Worker
Action for Children are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with physical and learning disabilities.
The Residential Support Worker will work on a rolling rota covering various shifts, including some weekends. They will be responsible for building bonds with the children, supporting them with day-to-day personal care needs, and promoting their independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to provide flexible, responsive, and person-centred care to children and young people based on an assessment of their needs
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with children, young people, and their families
- Establish relationships and links within the community to assist the child, young person, and their family
- Support children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication, and clinical procedures
- Ensure that the views and needs of children/young people are heard and responded to by promoting communication and participation
- Undertake routine household tasks to enable the smooth running of the home and promote independence
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of care plans and input to service planning meetings where required
- Refer issues as appropriate that require specialist or management support
- Record observations and maintain up-to-date files (paper and electronic)
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent within two years of starting.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Some weekend shifts on a rota basis.
- Willingness to participate in relevant on-the-job or off-site training.
- Ability to manage difficult situations within the remit of the job.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment.
