Job Description

A Local Authority in Cheshire is looking to hire a temporary Senior Finance Assistant to support the budget setting process and advise managers of the preparation of service revenue budgets and capital programmes, in order to meet the requirements of the Council's Financial Standing Orders and Regulations. Role includes analysing and reviewing financial and performance information with service managers and maintain and report on financial and/or systems and procedures in order to minimise the risks of inefficiency, error or loss and to ensure the final accounts, grant claims and returns are compiled on an accurate and timely basis.

The successful candidate will be required to supervise the work of junior staff within the team, and other staff allocated from time to time, to ensure that tasks are carried out accurately and on a timely basis. The successful candidate will undertake coaching and specific technical training within the Team, to ensure that best practice standards and approaches are appropriately applied.

Ideal Candidate

  • AAT Qualified or Relevant Business/Performance Qualification
  • Proven track record of conscientious application and technical reliability
  • Sound working knowledge of Local Authority financial and performance practices and procedures
  • Sound IT skills and ability to analyse and present financial and performance data.
  • Attention to detail and effective communication skills
