About the Role:
We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Youth Justice Social Worker or Probation Officer for a 3-month fixed-term role within our multi-agency St Helens Youth Justice Service (YJS). The successful candidate will hold a caseload of young people engaged through our Prevention and Diversion pathways, providing essential support to help reduce offending and risk of exploitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of young people open to the service via Prevention and Diversion pathways.
- Complete assessments using the Youth Justice Board (YJB) Prevention and Diversion Assessment tool.
- Identify unmet needs and develop child-led plans focused on supporting young people to move away from offending and reduce exploitation risks.
- Provide occasional court duty officer cover for the service.
- Undertake office duties as required.
- Apply both a Child First approach and Trauma Informed Practice in all work with young people.
- Qualified and experienced Youth Justice Social Worker or Probation Officer.
- Proven ability to work effectively with young people involved in the youth justice system.
- Experience with prevention and diversion strategies in youth justice.
- Strong assessment and case management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency team.
- Commitment to Child First and Trauma Informed approaches.
- Ability to work independently and "hit the ground running" in a fast-paced environment.
