Support Manager
Location: Shrewsbury - Shropshire
Client: Shropshire Council
Sector: Employment Support Services
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30
Role Overview
As a Support Manager within Shropshire Council’s Enable team, you will play a key role in helping people with disabilities, complex barriers, or long-term unemployment to access meaningful employment. This is a varied and rewarding position supporting the delivery of the Work and Health Programme.
Key Duties May Include
• Providing one-to-one support to clients with complex needs
• Assessing and reviewing referrals to the service
• Delivering advice and guidance on employment and career options
• Supporting job search and post-employment sustainability
• Facilitating group and individual activities related to work readiness and learning
• Liaising with employers, partner agencies, and referral organisations
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver client-focused support to remove barriers to employment
• Support clients through the job application, interview, and onboarding process
• Promote inclusive employment opportunities with local employers
• Maintain accurate case records and progress documentation
• Work in partnership with health, social care, and employment professionals
• Encourage and support long-term job retention through in-work support
What They’re Looking For
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment
• Knowledge of employment pathways, welfare benefits, and job coaching
• Proven ability to motivate and empower individuals to reach goals
• Awareness of safeguarding and data protection practices
Skills & Competencies
• Empathetic and person-centred approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Well-organised with good attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-agency team
• Confident in IT systems and recording case information
Other Requirements
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
• Right to work in the UK
• Immediate availability preferred
