About the Role
As a Night Care Support Worker, you will provide personal care and practical support to vulnerable individuals across Calderdale during the night, in line with their care plans. This role plays a vital part in promoting independence, dignity, and well-being, while ensuring all support meets national care standards and council procedures. You will work independently in the community and respond flexibly to changing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personal care including assistance with dressing, bathing, toileting, and feeding (including special dietary requirements).
- Perform practical tasks such as bed-making, laundry, emptying commodes, and preparing drinks.
- Read and follow risk assessments, care plans, and medication profiles.
- Monitor and report changes in service users' needs or conditions.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues and other agencies.
- Support the induction of new care workers and share good practices.
- Ensure safe driving and proper maintenance checks on council-provided vehicles.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies during the night shift.
- Attend meetings, reviews, and case conferences as required.
- Participate in relevant training and development activities.
- Basic understanding of the needs of individuals requiring care at home.

- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
- IT literate, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Able to follow instructions and respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
- Driving: Full UK Category B driving licence held for at least 2 years and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments considered for candidates with disabilities).
- Clearance: Enhanced DBS with Adult’s Barred List Check required.
- Safeguarding Commitment: Must promote and uphold safeguarding principles for adults at risk.
