Technical Officer (Traffic schemes)

Job Description

Our client, a local authority based in Oxford are looking for a Technical Officer to join their team. This is on a permanent basis - salary between £35,336 - £38,553.

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Support the Principal Officer in the delivery of a high-quality maintenance and traffic management service.

  • Deliver from inception to completion a variety of traffic and highway related schemes, e.g. Traffic Calming, bus stops, crossings, speed limit changes, junction improvements, & Signage and road marking schemes with minimal supervision

  • Investigate complaints and enquires relating to all aspects of highways and traffic management.

  • Review and design solutions to local traffic problems, including parking and speed limit issues. Undertake informal consultations, attend site meetings with stakeholders, and prepare and present reports to committees.

  • Deliver minor traffic schemes (up to £0.5m in value). Responsibility for all stages of the process from initial survey and design / 'walk & talk' through to 'client' site supervision and processing of final accounts.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Previous experience working on Traffic/Highways schemes.

A degree/HND or equivalent would be ideal but not essential.
