Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in North East Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Town Planner to join their Planning team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Town Planning environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the planning service delivered by the the Councils, ensuring it delivers a first-class service to customers and contributes to sustainable development and growth in the area. This will include managing a caseload of complex planning applications, providing professional advice, and supporting service improvement projects.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Representing the Council at public hearings and planning appeal inquiries as an expert planning witness.
  • Manage a caseload of complex planning applications, ensuring timely and high-quality decisions.
  • Prepare accurate and concise reports for planning committee and appeal statements.
  • Provide professional development management advice to applicants, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Council as an expert planning witness at appeals and public hearings.
  • Lead on pre-application discussions for major and sensitive development proposals.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A degree in Town Planning (or working towards) and Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) (or working towards).
• At least 3 years’ experience working within a Town Planning environment, including appeals and major applications.
• Proven ability to prepare professional reports and recommendations for committee.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with developers to secure planning gains.
• Adaptability and flexibility to meet service needs, including hybrid working arrangements.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32 per hour PAYE).
