Job Title: Adolescence/Youth Justice Officer
Location: Nottingham
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Nottingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Adolescence/Youth Justice Officer to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary Adolescence and Family Help Service. You'll work with young people at risk of offending or already within the youth justice system, offering early intervention, targeted support, and statutory supervision to promote safety, positive outcomes, and long-term change.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of young people subject to pre-court disposals or statutory orders, both in the community and in custody
  • Undertake holistic assessments that identify risks, needs, and protective factors, and develop tailored intervention plans
  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions to reduce offending and support desistance
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate wraparound services
  • Write high-quality pre-sentence reports and deliver court-based services
  • Work creatively and responsively with families and carers to strengthen support networks
  • Contribute to strategy and service development, and promote best practices within the team
  • Lead or participate in multi-agency meetings, maintaining strong professional relationships
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, safeguarding standards, and data protection requirements
Essential Requirements:
✔ Relevant professional qualification (e.g. DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent in youth justice, education, health, or social care)
✔ Minimum 5 years post-qualifying experience in children’s services or related fields
✔ In-depth knowledge of the youth justice system, safeguarding legislation, and evidence-based practice
✔ Strong assessment and analytical skills
✔ Confident communicator, both written and verbal
✔ Experience of working with vulnerable young people and their families
✔ Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, and travel across Nottingham as required
