The Family Court Adviser: A9 – Social Care Qualified plays a vital role in supporting the courts, children, and families during sensitive legal proceedings. As a Family Court Adviser: A9 – Social Care Qualified, you will provide expert social work support, ensuring safeguarding remains at the core of your work. You will undertake risk assessments, analyze complex cases, and offer professional advice to courts on child protection issues. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding children’s welfare and facilitating positive outcomes through various stages, including work to first hearing (WTFH), work after first hearing (WAFH), public law cases, private law disputes, and child-focused court models.

Candidate Responsibilities for the Family Court Adviser: A9 – Social Care Qualified

  • Conduct comprehensive safeguarding checks
  • Assess risk factors and identify welfare concerns early
  • Provide clear, professional recommendations to courts
  • Work directly with children and their families to gather insights and support
  • Prepare detailed, accurate reports to inform court decisions
  • Act as Children’s Guardian in public law cases
  • Support families and professionals with practical advice on child arrangements in private law cases
  • Contribute to the Child Focused Court Model, ensuring court proceedings centre on the child's needs, voice, and experiences
  • Manage sensitive, high-conflict cases professionally and effectively under pressure
