Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced 16 Care Leavers Team Manager to join a Local Authority in Medway on a temporary basis.
The Role You will lead, manage and support a team of newly qualified and experienced Social Workers and Personal Advisors, ensuring high quality services for Children in Care and Care Experienced Young People. The role focuses on improving outcomes, promoting independence, and supporting young people on their journey from care into adulthood.

The Role You will lead, manage and support a team of newly qualified and experienced Social Workers and Personal Advisors, ensuring high quality services for Children in Care and Care Experienced Young People. The role focuses on improving outcomes, promoting independence, and supporting young people on their journey from care into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and coach a team of Social Workers and Personal Advisors delivering services to children in care and care leavers
- Support improved outcomes for looked after children and young people through effective partnership working with internal services and external partner agencies
- Contribute to the delivery of the Council’s Corporate Parenting Vision for Children in Care and Care Leavers
- Provide strong leadership to ensure high quality supervision, effective case oversight, timely decision making, and robust care and pathway planning
- Promote reflective practice, identifying good practice and areas for improvement, and supporting ongoing learning and development
- Undertake audits across children’s services and within the local service area
- Allocate cases within statutory timescales, supporting positive transitions and ensuring:
- Looked After Children Reviews
- Pathway Plan Reviews
- Statutory visits
have clear objectives and measurable outcomes
- Complete and review Performance Development Plans, supporting personal and professional development and contributing to staff retention
- Use team performance data effectively to monitor standards, performance, and compliance with practice standards and procedures
- Provide high quality reflective supervision that offers clear management oversight, appropriate professional challenge, and supports progression of children and young people’s plans
- Ensure care experienced young people are supported effectively to develop independence following their journey through care
- Contribute to management of the team budget, approving and monitoring expenditure within delegated authority to ensure budgets are not exceeded
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Significant experience within Children in Care and Care Leavers services
- Proven management or acting up experience within Children’s Services
- Strong knowledge of statutory responsibilities, safeguarding, and corporate parenting duties
- Confident in supervision, performance management, and service improvement
