This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Practitioner or Assistant Team Manager looking to take the next step in leadership within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority. This is a non-case holding management position, allowing you to focus on developing staff, driving high-quality practice, and improving outcomes for children and families.

The Role
Working alongside the Team Manager, you will play a key role in leading, supporting and developing a team of Social Workers, ensuring children and young people receive safe, effective and child-centred interventions.
You will provide professional supervision, quality assurance, coaching and guidance to your team while promoting a culture of learning, continuous improvement and reflective practice.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring others, strengthening practice and making a real difference without holding their own caseload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Team Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the team.
  • Provide regular supervision to a team of 3-4 Social Workers.
  • Deliver robust case oversight, quality assurance and timely decision-making.
  • Chair strategy meetings, planning meetings, reviews and professional meetings.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Assist with case allocation and workload management.
  • Undertake joint visits and provide support during court proceedings where required.
  • Contribute to the induction, recruitment and retention of new team members.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ensure children's voices remain at the heart of all decision making.
About You

We're looking for a confident and experienced Social Work professional who is passionate about developing others and driving excellent practice.

You will have:
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring Social Workers.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection and statutory responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills.
  • A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
What's on Offer?
  • Competitive salary of £47,435 - £52,920
  • £6,000 Market Premia paid monthly
  • £3,000 Annual Retention Payment after one year's service
  • Non-case holding management role
  • Excellent training and career development opportunities
  • Supportive leadership team
  • Flexible working and strong commitment to work-life balance
  • Opportunity to shape practice and develop future social work professionals
