CFS Senior Social Worker - Post Order Team

Are you a dedicated CFS Senior Social Worker with experience in post-order care and supporting adoptive families? We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate CFS Senior Social Worker to join our Post Order Team on a contract basis for an initial period of 2 weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families while working within a dynamic and supportive environment.

About the CFS Senior Social Worker Role

As a CFS Senior Social Worker, you will provide essential emotional and practical support to Special Guardians and adoptive parents. The role involves helping families navigate new dynamics and challenges, offering expert advice on parenting strategies, especially for children with trauma or attachment needs. You will work closely with safeguarding teams, professionals from various agencies, and families to ensure that children’s needs are comprehensively met.

Candidate Responsibilities

As the CFS Senior Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing emotional and practical support to Special Guardians and adoptive families
  • Assisting families to adjust to new dynamics and challenges
  • Advising on parenting strategies, especially for children with trauma or attachment issues
  • Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns to safeguarding teams
  • Attending conferences and Child in Need (CiN) meetings when appropriate
  • Supporting children and families to manage trauma, loss, identity, and attachment issues
  • Referring and coordinating therapeutic services such as counselling, CAMHS, and play therapy
  • Assisting families in understanding the impact of early experiences on behaviour
  • Conducting post-order assessments for support services or funding such as ASF
  • Evaluating ongoing needs of children and families
  • Managing referrals within a busy duty system
  • Advocating for access to education, health, or specialist services
  • Liaising with schools, health professionals, and other agencies
  • Supporting children in understanding their life history and adoption journey
  • Providing or updating life story materials
  • Leading training, workshops, or guidance on attachment and trauma-informed care
  • Participating in family events and supporting coffee mornings for Special Guardians
  • Assisting the birth records counsellor with access and redaction of birth files for adult adoptees
