This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker ready to step into a leadership role or an existing Assistant Team Manager looking for their next challenge. This is a non-case holding position focused on supporting the Team Manager, providing supervision, improving practice, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families.

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Medway Council for an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join their Children's Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker ready to step into a leadership role or an existing Assistant Team Manager looking for their next challenge. This is a non-case holding position focused on supporting the Team Manager, providing supervision, improving practice, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families.
The Role
As Assistant Team Manager, you will:
- Support the Team Manager in leading and developing a high-performing social work team.
- Provide regular, reflective supervision to 3–4 Social Workers.
- Offer case oversight, quality assurance and timely decision-making.
- Chair strategy meetings, reviews, planning meetings and professional networks.
- Assist with case allocation and performance management.
- Complete joint visits and provide support during court proceedings where required.
- Contribute to recruitment, induction and staff development.
- Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
- Promote high-quality safeguarding practice and positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
To be considered, you will have:
- Qualified Social Worker status.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualified experience in Children's Social Care.
- Significant experience within statutory children's services.
- Strong experience in child protection, safeguarding and court work.
- Experience providing supervision or mentoring to Social Workers.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding practice.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- A commitment to reflective practice, continuous professional development and achieving the best outcomes for children.
- Practice Educator qualification.
- Leadership or first-line management training.
- Experience with Signs of Safety.
- Experience supporting ASYE/NQSWs or student Social Workers.
- Knowledge of Mosaic or similar electronic recording systems.
- Competitive salary of £47,435 – £52,920
