Children's Social Worker - Stockport MBC - GM Collaboration (Contract)

We are recruiting for a Children's Social Worker to join Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council's Kinship Care Team on a 2-week contract. About the Role:

As a Children's Social Worker, you will be responsible for supporting and supervising Kinship Foster Carers in a hybrid working arrangement based at Stopford House, Stockport. Your primary focus will be providing vital support to kinship carers, ensuring the wellbeing of children in their care. Additional duties include undertaking duty tasks on a rota basis, conducting viability assessments, and completing Regulation 24 assessments.

Key Responsibilities of the Children's Social Worker:

  • Support and supervise Kinship Foster Carers to promote stable placements
  • Conduct viability assessments to determine suitability for kinship care
  • Complete Regulation 24 assessments to facilitate minimal intervention and support plans
  • Manage duty tasks on a rota basis, providing timely responses to child safeguarding concerns
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and ensure adherence to regulatory standards
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-agency teams to safeguard children
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory responsibilities and safeguarding policies

Candidate Requirements for the Children's Social Worker:

  • Hold a valid Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work)
  • At least 5 years of relevant social work experience
  • Previous experience working with kinship care or related fields is highly desirable
  • Clear references covering the last 5 years
  • Ability to complete viability and Regulation 24 assessments accurately
  • Strong communication, organisational, and conflict resolution skills
  • Pass all compliance checks and DfE recommendation questions
