About the Role
As a Duty and Assessment Social Worker, you will be integral to the South Locality team based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, Bradford. Working three days per week in the office, you will play a vital role in safeguarding children by assessing needs, managing referrals, and supporting families effectively. Your expertise will contribute significantly to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children, ensuring their protection and promoting stability.
This Duty and Assessment Social Worker role offers a salary between £38,220 and £46,142 per annum, complemented by a £3,000 retention payment, reflecting the value we place on experienced practitioners. This is a permanent position with an initial contract length of 2 weeks for the staffing process, with the potential for longer-term placement.
Candidate Responsibilities
As a dedicated Duty and Assessment Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and prioritising referrals promptly and effectively
- Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to inform intervention plans
- Supporting children in need, child protection cases, and cases involving public proceedings and pre-proceedings
- Working collaboratively with external agencies, legal teams, and colleagues to safeguard children
- Applying restorative and relational-based practice approaches to support family engagement
- Ensuring that children’s welfare remains at the heart of all decisions and actions
- Upholding all child protection procedures, legal requirements, and organisational policies
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking Duty and Assessment Social Workers with:
- Proven experience in child protection, children in need, and public proceedings
- Strong assessment, communication, and decision-making skills
- The ability to work at pace and manage complex cases effectively
- A genuine passion for safeguarding children and supporting families
- A valid Social Work qualification and registration
