Healthcare Assistant

We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants for ongoing flexible ad hoc shifts within a specialist mental health inpatient setting in Clacton-on-Sea.

There are plenty of day and night shifts available, providing an excellent opportunity for a HCA looking for flexible work that can fit around existing commitments.

Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex
Shifts: 07:30–20:00 | 20:00–07:30 (1-hour unpaid break)
Pay: £14.24–£15.00 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)

The service provides both acute inpatient care and specialist rehabilitation for women aged 18+, supporting individuals with a range of complex mental health needs.

The acute wards support individuals experiencing periods of crisis or acute phases of mental illness, including:

• Acute mental health presentations
• Depression
• Psychosis and schizophrenia
• Bipolar disorder
• Personality disorders
• Dual diagnosis
• Substance misuse
• Self-harm

The rehabilitation service provides structured support to women with complex, severe and enduring mental health needs, helping individuals work towards recovery, greater independence and progression back into the community.

The Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to service users.

Duties may include:

• Providing compassionate care and support to service users
• Supporting individuals with their daily living needs
• Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
• Observing and reporting changes in presentation or behaviour
• Supporting activities and recovery-focused interventions
• Working alongside nursing and wider clinical teams
• Following individual care plans and safeguarding procedures
• Maintaining accurate and timely records

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant / Support Worker
• Experience within mental health or a similar care environment is highly desirable
• Ability to work confidently with individuals with complex needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable, professional and compassionate approach
• Right to Work in the UK ( Sponsorship not available)
• Relevant compliance and training must be completed prior to booking
