Job Title: MASH Social Worker – Children’s Services
Location: Penrith (Hybrid working – provisionally 6 days per month onsite)
Contract: 3-month contract, ongoing
Pay Rate:
The client is offering hybrid working, with an expectation of approximately 6 days per month in the office (provisionally).

Pay Rate:
- £45 per hour umbrella
- £39.49 PAYE (inclusive)
- £35.24 PAYE (exclusive)
The client is offering hybrid working, with an expectation of approximately 6 days per month in the office (provisionally).
Key Responsibilities
- Screen and triage incoming safeguarding referrals concerning children and young people
- Undertake robust risk assessments and make informed threshold decisions
- Decide appropriate next steps, including Early Help, Child in Need, or Child Protection pathways
- Work closely with partner agencies such as Police, Health, Education, and Early Help
- Ensure all decisions are clearly recorded and evidence-based
- Maintain high-quality, timely case recording in line with statutory guidance
- Apply legislation including the Children Act 1989 & 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children
- Manage workload effectively in a fast-paced MASH environment
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Recent Children’s Social Work experience within a Local Authority
- MASH experience is highly desirable
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and analytical decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency setting
- Enhanced DBS (Update Service desirable)
- Hybrid working model
- Provisionally 6 days per month onsite in Penrith
- Remainder of work completed remotely
