Adult Occupational Therapist – Cheshire (Local Authority)
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an Adult Occupational Therapist on behalf of a Cheshire-based Local Authority.
Location: Cheshire
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Rate: £35 per hour Umbrella / £27 per hour PAYE
Job Purpose To assess the needs of individuals within the community who are ill or have a disability and, through the provision of specialist equipment, adaptations, and appropriate advice, support them to become more independent and remain in their own homes.
Principal Responsibilities

Job Purpose To assess the needs of individuals within the community who are ill or have a disability and, through the provision of specialist equipment, adaptations, and appropriate advice, support them to become more independent and remain in their own homes.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assess the needs of ill and disabled service users for equipment and adaptations, considering diagnosis and prognosis
- Provide appropriate information, advice, and guidance to service users and carers
- Complete assessments for individuals returning from hospital or nursing homes and arrange equipment to support discharge
- Source funding from agencies such as charities, the NHS, and Social Services where required
- Liaise with architects and service users to review and approve adaptation plans
- Work collaboratively with Housing, NHS, and voluntary organisations to ensure effective communication and outcomes
- Negotiate suitable adaptation solutions in line with service user needs and budget constraints
- Ensure completed adaptations meet assessed needs and arrange additional equipment where appropriate
- Assess for equipment provision to reduce the impact of disability
- Keep up to date with developments in Occupational Therapy equipment and arrange supplier visits where necessary
- Maintain knowledge of moving and handling techniques and support the training of care staff
- Identify rehabilitation needs and refer to appropriate services
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development and professional registration standards
- Qualified Occupational Therapist
- HCPC registered
- Experience within adult social care or community settings
- Strong assessment and communication skills
