Rate: £25.00–£30.00 per hour PAYE, depending on experience
Hours: 22 hours per week, with potential for additional hours
Contract: 6–7 weeks

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide short-term sickness cover within a Blue Badge assessment service in Glenrothes, Fife.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OT looking for a short-term assignment, with flexibility around working days and the potential for additional hours due to an existing assessment backlog.

The Role
The successful Occupational Therapist will undertake independent mobility assessments for Blue Badge applicants who do not automatically meet the scheme's eligibility criteria.
You will be responsible for:

• Undertaking functional assessments of Blue Badge applicants in line with relevant legislation, guidance and the Code of Practice for Local Authorities.
• Assessing an individual's mobility and functional ability to determine whether they meet the relevant Blue Badge eligibility criteria.
• Using professional knowledge and clinical reasoning to assess mobility impairment and potential risks associated with walking and traffic.
• Managing a varied workload of approximately 20 assessments per week.
• Applying eligibility criteria and making independent professional decisions.
• Assessing appeals against Blue Badge decisions where required.
• Providing appropriate advice, information, guidance and signposting.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date assessment records and documentation.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to support effective service delivery.
• Providing professional support and advice to Assistant Mobility Assessors where required.
• Working in accordance with HCPC standards, confidentiality requirements, data protection legislation and relevant service policies.

About You
We are looking for an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with previous post-qualification OT experience who is confident working independently and making professional decisions.
Essential requirements:

• Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
• Ability to work independently and use professional judgement.
• Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and communication skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
• Experience of accurate recording and documentation.
• Ability to apply eligibility criteria and make evidence-based decisions.

Blue Badge assessment experience is not essential as relevant training and transferable OT experience will be considered.
Experience working with older people, adults and/or children with disabilities would be advantageous.
Working Arrangements

• 22 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours.
• Flexible working days can be considered.
• The role is 100% office/site based, with no remote working available.
• All assessments are undertaken on site in Glenrothes, KY7 6GF.
• A driving licence or access to a car is not required for this position.
• The role is expected to last approximately 6–7 weeks to provide short-term sickness cover.
• Due to the immediate requirement, candidates who are available to start ASAP are particularly encouraged to apply.
