Occupational Therapist – Community Role (Contract)

Position: Occupational Therapist
Location: Westmorland & Furness
Contract Length: 2 weeks (initially, with potential for extension)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (37 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £34 per hour (Umbrella) / £26.70 per hour (PAYE)

Candidate Responsibilities for the Occupational Therapist Role

As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a community-based Occupational Therapy caseload, prioritising risk and individual needs
• Conducting holistic assessments to promote independence and wellbeing
• Performing moving and handling assessments, implementing safe and appropriate interventions
• Carrying out functional assessments within service users’ homes
• Recommending and coordinating equipment, adaptations, and seating solutions to improve quality of life
• Supporting hospital discharge processes and working to prevent unnecessary admissions
• Collaborating with health professionals, social care teams, reablement services, and partner agencies to ensure comprehensive care
• Maintaining accurate case records and documentation in line with regulatory standards
• Participating in supervision sessions and contributing to service development initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including 18th Edition electrical standards where applicable

Requirements for the Occupational Therapist Role

• Qualified Occupational Therapist HCPC registered
• Experience working within community or adult social care settings
• Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards, including 18th Edition electrical certification (preferred but not mandatory)
