Location: Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Temporary 
Salary: Dependent on experience, qualifications and role

About the Role We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants and SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people across schools in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will work alongside teachers and other education professionals to provide high-quality support to pupils, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress.

There are opportunities to work within mainstream schools, specialist SEN settings and alternative provision, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with their learning on an individual or small-group basis.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.
  • Provide additional support to pupils with SEND.
  • Help pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Support pupils with needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, teachers and parents/carers.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Follow individual education, behaviour and support plans where required.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, inclusion and the wellbeing of all pupils.
Essential Skills and Qualities
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people.
  • Patience, empathy and a calm approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
Desirable Experience / Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Experience of working with autism, ADHD or SEMH.
  • Teaching Assistant, Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
  • Experience in a school, nursery, care, youth work or similar setting.
  • First Aid, Team Teach or other relevant training would be advantageous.
