Candidate Responsibilities for the Social Worker (Stratford-upon-Avon)

As a Social Worker, your responsibilities will vary depending on whether you join the Duty & Assessment Pod or the Support & Intervention Pod. Your key duties will include:

• Duty & Assessment Pod:

  • Conducting Child and Family Assessments
  • Managing referrals and making timely decisions regarding risk and need
  • Working directly with children and young people aged 0–18
  • Responding effectively to safeguarding concerns
  • Developing Child in Need Plans
  • Collaborating with families to identify strengths and support requirements
  • Liaising with schools, health professionals, police, and other agencies

• Support & Intervention Pod:

  • Managing longer-term Child Protection and Child in Need cases
  • Undertaking permanence planning and adoption work
  • Completing Public Law Outline (PLO) work
  • Attending court and preparing detailed reports
  • Developing and reviewing care plans to support sustainable family outcomes
  • Supporting families to achieve positive, lasting change

Candidate Requirements:

• Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent)
• Current registration with Social Work England
• Experience in Children’s Social Care
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance
• Ability to manage a complex caseload efficiently
• Excellent report-writing, assessment, and communication skills
• Proactive relationship-builder with children, families, and partner agencies
