Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people? We are currently seeking a highly skilled UASC Experienced Social Worker (Childrens 3 yrs+) – Grade I to join Nottingham City’s Children’s Social Care team on a 2-week contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, individuals with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), and those experiencing intentional homelessness.
Position Overview:
The UASC Experienced Social Worker (Childrens 3 yrs+) – Grade I will play a vital role in delivering high-quality assessments and interventions to safeguard children and promote their long-term stability. The role involves working closely with multi-agency partners, including housing services, health, education, legal professionals, and immigration authorities.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive Child and Family Assessments to inform care planning and safeguarding decisions
- Complete Human Rights Assessments ensuring compliance with the Human Rights Act 1998, safeguarding individuals’ dignity, accommodation, and family life rights
- Manage complex cases involving UASC, NRPF, and intentional homelessness situations
- Support young people through the asylum and immigration process upon presentation to the council
- Carry out Merton-compliant age assessments as required
- Work collaboratively with housing services to assess and respond to homelessness and intentionality issues
- Develop, review, and implement care plans, pathway plans, and housing solutions
- Partner effectively with health, education, legal services, and the Home Office to assist vulnerable young people
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and children in care to ensure smooth transitions to long-term support services

Requirements:
- Possession of a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel within and outside the council area as required
- Relevant Social Work qualification and registration
- Experience working with UASC, NRPF, or homelessness is essential
- Strong assessment, communication, and partnership-working skills
