Band 6 RMN - Psychiatric Liaison Team - Newham

A senior RMN is needed to join the Newham crisis pathway services. The role involves assessing, supporting and giving appropriate medical advice to the patients. As a Liaison Nurse Practitioner you will be competent to conduct full mental health assessments and management plans for people that are referred from Newham university hospital general wards and the Emergency Department for a variety of reasons including emotional problems, self-harm and deterioration of their mental state. People presenting to the Emergency Department will often be in crisis and you should have the skills to adapt to a variety of situations, including managing a busy workload against time constraints.

You will hold a sound knowledge in the relationship between physical and mental health.

You will be required to make clear autonomous decisions based on a variety of complex presenting problems. You should possess excellent assessment and risk management skills alongside excellent intra-personal skills including the ability to communicate with clients and all other health care professionals, and excellent skills in time-management and maintaining appropriate clinical records.

You may also be required to work at the crisis assessment services where you will work on the crisis line answering crisis calls. You will be required to assess patients who are primary Mental health presentations and have been transferred from the emergency department, brought in by LAS or requires a face to face assessment.
Working autonomously, the post holder will be required to participate in receiving and screening referrals to the service, carrying out assessments and signposting / treatment.

The role is to commence ASAP and the role is full time, working a flexible shift pattern across long days and nights. 08:30 - 21:00 and nights 20:30 - 09:00, weekdays and weekends, option as well for short or long twilight shifts.

The hourly rate for the role is:
Monday - Friday 06:00 - 20:00 - £29 ph
Saturday and nights 20:00-06:00 - £33 ph
Sundays and bank hols - £36 ph

The contract is a long term, NHS contract.
Candidates must be a qualified RMN with a valid NMC Pin, and must have previous experience of triage referrals/psychiatric liaison and working in the community.
