The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead on major and complex building control projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations and public safety legislation, carrying out inspections, plan checking, and enforcement work across a wide range of building types. You will act as the lead contact for major projects, manage and develop junior team members, and respond to dangerous structure reports both in and out of hours.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Examine and approve building plans to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Carry out on-site inspections of all types of building works, identifying non-compliance and taking enforcement action where required.
- Lead on major projects across the city, acting as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Manage dangerous structures cases, including coordinating emergency responses both during and outside normal working hours.
- Support and mentor junior surveyors/engineers, contributing to their professional development and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Professional membership with MCABE, MCIOB, MRICS, CEng, MIStructE or equivalent.
• Class 2 registration under the Government’s competency scheme.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• Experience in managing complex projects in a local authority building control setting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40 per hour PAYE).
