Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Building Control environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the Building Control Service in delivering a high-quality function across North Yorkshire, ensuring buildings comply with relevant regulatory standards in terms of health, safety, sustainability, energy conservation, accessibility, and design, while providing excellent customer service and maintaining statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Inspecting deposited plans and associated documentation for compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act 1984.
• Undertaking statutory and other site inspections for a range of developments, ensuring accurate record keeping and timely reporting.
• Investigating and managing dangerous structures, demolitions, contraventions, and unauthorised works in accordance with legislation.
• Liaising with contractors, stakeholders, and members of the public to provide professional advice and negotiate compliance solutions.
• Initiating and assisting with enforcement action where required to ensure regulatory obligations are met.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• HND/Degree in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Registration with, or working towards registration with, the Building Safety Regulator as a Building Inspector (Class 1 or Class 2 under BICoF).
• Membership, or working towards membership, of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• Experience managing a range of projects from small domestic to complex non-domestic/residential schemes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £35 per hour PAYE).
