The Role
Key purpose of the role is to deliver programmed and responsive maintenance works, condition and compliance-related surveys across the council’s property estate, ensuring statutory compliance and contributing to the delivery of the council’s Asset Management Plan.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Undertaking condition, asbestos, fire, and accessibility surveys across the estate.
- Acting as the competent person for a defined area of building-related statutory compliance (e.g. fire safety, asbestos, radon).
- Managing reactive and planned maintenance works, including preparing specifications, tender evaluation, and contractor oversight.
- Supporting the delivery of capital and revenue projects up to £500,000 per annum.
- Providing specialist technical advice and compliance monitoring for internal and external project teams.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Building Surveying or a relevant property subject.
- Membership of or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB) within 18 months of appointment.
- NEBOSH certificate or equivalent in a relevant H&S area.
- Knowledge of construction methods, planning and building regulations.
- Strong project management and cost control skills.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD, digital mapping, and CRM systems.
