Pay Rate: £13.57 per hour PAYE / £18.00 per hour LTD (paid via umbrella company)
Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and proactive Casual Youth Outreach Worker to engage with young people – particularly those considered “hard to reach” – across community spaces including parks, youth clubs, and other informal settings. The role focuses on building trusting relationships, offering support and guidance, and delivering meaningful activities that promote personal and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Outreach & Engagement:
Actively engage with young people in community settings to build rapport and trust. - Relationship Building:
Act as a mentor and positive role model, developing supportive relationships to encourage growth and resilience. - Activity Planning & Delivery:
Design and facilitate engaging, inclusive, and developmental activities tailored to young people’s interests and needs. - Safeguarding:
Promote and maintain a safe environment, with strong adherence to safeguarding protocols and procedures. - Communication:
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with young people, colleagues, and external professionals. - Teamwork:
Collaborate with the wider youth services team to contribute to a positive, supportive, and effective working environment. - Problem Solving:
Apply creative and practical solutions to support young people facing personal or social challenges. - Flexibility:
Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, adapting to meet the needs of young people and the community.
- Experience working with young people in informal or community settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of the issues affecting young people, including safeguarding and emotional development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Willingness to work in varied locations including outdoors and non-traditional spaces.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Youth Work or a related field.
- A valid UK driving license (essential in some roles to reach outreach locations).
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience delivering group activities or structured programs.
- The role requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required prior to commencement.
