Education Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a South Yorkshire based local authority who are seeking an Education (SEN) Lawyer to join their legal department. The role is required due to an expansion within the team.

ROLE: Education (SEN) Lawyer

LOCATION: South Yorkshire - remote working

RATE: £35 to £40ph

CONTRACT: 3 months ongoing, 35 hours per week

The Role

  • To manage a full caseload from inception to completion related to SEN Law matters
  • Cases will include SEN, Tribunals, Disability Discrimination, School exclusions, judicial reviews and admission appeals
  • To provide other legislative advice to council members when required
  • To occasionally attend hearings where necessary (this can be done remotely)

The Person

  • A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with at least 2 years PQE within Education Law and specifically SEN Law experience
  • Previous working within a local authority or public body would be highly desirable
  • Candidates must have experience of SEN Tribunals and be able to manage a case load of SEN tribunal cases
