Environmental Health Officer

Job Description

Our client, a local authority based in Warwick are looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This is on a temporary ongoing contract basis.

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Deliver excellent customer service by supporting the Senior Environmental Health Officer to improve housing conditions within the private rented sector and improving the management and conditions of those properties regulated and enforced through advice, informal and formal action via the Courts and Tribunal.
  • Maximise the availability and accessibility of private housing working in partnership with colleagues to enable residents to remain in their homes safely and comfortably.
  • Take ownership of and effectively manage a personal case load of housing related complaints affecting the health, safety and well-being of tenants in the private rented sector.
  • Respond to requests for service in relation to matters dealt with by the team.
  • Carry out investigations to ensure that, where applicable, housing defects are abated through informal or statutory action.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

A degree/HND or equivalent would be ideal but not essential.

Previous experience of Environmental Health within the Private Housing sector.
