The Post
We are looking for a highly organised, motivated and hardworking Housing Officer to provide a flexible, proactive and customer focused housing management service across a designated patch of properties. Ensuring that the Council fulfils its legal and contractual obligations to tenants and leaseholders. You will support tenants, including those with Mental Health, Learning and Physical Disabilities, to sustain their tenancies and work closely with other teams, councillors and Residents Associations.
Key responsibilities will be to conduct tenancy checks and investigating tenancy fraud. Investigating and processing tenancy changes e.g. successions, assignments, mutual exchanges. Investigating and managing breaches of tenancies e.g. sub-letting, abandonment. Carrying out new tenant visits, tenancy reviews and managing the tenancy end process.
As well as responding to queries and keeping residents updated. Responding to complaints in line with procedures. Providing advice to residents and signposting to other agencies where necessary. Dealing with anti-social behaviour cases, including legal escalations and working alongside other Stakeholders to reach a resolution. Representing the Homes and Communities Team at multi-agency meetings. Building strong and collaborative relationships with residents and the local community. And working effectively with strategic partners and stakeholders.
The Person
At a time of unprecedented change, we are looking for ambitious and innovative individuals with a passion for utilising theirs skills with use tool and powers of both housing and anti-social legislation to manage the day-to-day housing issues.
To be successful in the role you will have the ability to work with a variety of people in a calm and supportive way. You will be passionate about helping people to maintain their homes and want to do everything possible to make their homes as suitable as can be by getting to know them and addressing their concerns.
A patient, helpful and polite disposition is essential with a focus on providing a professional and caring service and getting it right the first time. You will have a positive, 'Can Do' attitude, high attention to detail and be self-motivated. You must have a flexible approach to service delivery, along with excellent communication skills and the creativity to find solutions that deliver the excellent services our residents deserve.
The post holder will be required to work out in the community and carry out home visits. Have a willingness to 'get stuck in' and work with all stakeholders to achieve a positive solution. As well as a passion for driving up standards within a neighbourhood by proactively addressing negative behaviours.
