Neighbourhood Housing Officer – £14.84 PAYE / £18.21 LTD – Temporary – Gateshead (Hybrid Working)
We’re currently working on behalf of a client in Gateshead to recruit an experienced Neighbourhood Housing Officer on a temporary basis. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of remote and on-site working, with travel required across the borough.
PAYE: £14.84 per hour
LTD: £18.21 per hour
Part Time – 18.5 hours
Temporary assignment with potential for extension
The Role:
As a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will be responsible for proactively managing a cross-tenure patch of properties and delivering high-quality, customer-focused housing management services. You’ll act as the key point of contact for tenants, supporting them to sustain their tenancies, addressing anti-social behaviour, and ensuring neighbourhoods are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a designated patch of properties, including those managed on behalf of other landlords.
  • Provide housing advice and early interventions to support tenancy sustainment.
  • Liaise with vulnerable tenants, making referrals and supporting tailored plans.
  • Investigate and respond to reports of anti-social behaviour.
  • Conduct tenancy visits, mutual exchange inspections, and tenancy reviews.
  • Carry out estate inspections and respond to environmental issues.
  • Work closely with councillors, partner agencies, and other services.
  • Promote tenant involvement and customer consultation.
  • Achieve performance targets and support service development.
About You:
We’re looking for someone with:
  • Strong knowledge of housing and social care issues.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and supporting vulnerable customers.
  • Confident communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations, including ASB and safeguarding concerns.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Competent IT skills including MS Office.
  • A flexible, customer-focused and proactive approach.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred due to the mobile nature of the role (casual car user status applies).
Requirements:
  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C / 9–4) including Maths and English, or equivalent experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
