One of the UKs fastest growing housing support services is recruiting in Grimsby for a dedicated and compassionate Housing Support Worker to provide 24/7 support and prompt assistance for young people.
The Service
This Housing Support Worker role is based in a Young Person's housing service in Grimsby, which provides housing related independent living support to vulnerable young people, supporting them in daily tasks and prompting them to live as independently as possible with a view to moving on to fully independent living.
The Role
The focus of this Housing Support Worker role is to working and engaging with the service users assisting them with daily tasks, life skills, and fostering independence.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 support and prompt assistance for a young person requiring continuous support .
- Assist with daily living skills, activities, and routines to promote independence.
- Engage with other clients in the property, providing support and encouragement.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all residents.
- Document and report on the progress, needs, and concerns of clients.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations governing the provision of support services.
The Candidate
To be considered for this Housing Support Worker role, you will require previous housing support experience including:
- Empathetic and patient, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
- Ideally male staff, though strong females with the necessary mental fortitude are also encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience in a similar support role or relevant background in social care.
- Knowledge of best practices in providing care, support, and guidance to individuals with unique needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
As the role is working with vulnerable individuals, you will also require an Enhanced DBS check.
The Contract
This is a full time Housing Support Worker role, working 12 hour shifts; 8am - 8pm and then 8pm-8am. Initially this will be waking nights at the beginning but likely to turn into sleep ins once the service user is settled within the service.
The contract is for an initial 3 months, but has an excellent chance of being extended beyond this, or even potentially becoming permanent.
