Job Description

Service Care Legal are currently working alongside a Local Authority, base in London, which is in need of a Debt Recovery & Litigation Lawyer to work in the area of Financial Litigation. The successful candidate will provide proactive, clear and concise legal advice and assistance client departments. They will also supervise Legal Assistants and/or trainees as directed and deputise for the Senior and Chief Lawyer Financial Litigation team as and when required.

ROLE: Debt Recovery and Financial Litigation Lawyer

LOCATION: London

RATE: £45-£50ph

CONTRACT LENGTH: 3 months ongoing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in the area of Financial Litigation practice
  • Provide proactive, clear and concise legal advice and assistance to client departments
  • Supervise Legal Assistants and/or trainees as directed
  • Deputise for the Senior and Chief Lawyer Financial Litigation team as and when required

Role Requirements:

  • An admitted solicitor, qualified barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives
  • Ideally will have worked for a Local Authority within a Litigation team
  • Have knowledge of the law and practice relating to litigation in general and specifically, debt recovery, enforcement, the Care Act 2014 (regulations and guidance) in relation to recovery of community care fees as well as preceding legislation, Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Have experience of debt recovery and various enforcement action, and advocacy experience in the County Court.
