Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Medical Secretary/Administrator to support our client in the Blackpool Area.

Location: Blackpool, FY4
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (specific schedule to be agreed within practice opening hours)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience + £150 SCS Welcome Bonus 
 

Join Our Friendly, Forward-Thinking GP Practice We are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy, supportive team - a well-established GP training practice serving over 12,000 patients. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive healthcare environment where patient care and teamwork are top priorities.


About the Role You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a professional, friendly, and efficient reception and administrative service. Your responsibilities will include greeting and assisting patients, managing appointments, handling queries, processing prescriptions, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the front desk.


Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors in person and by phone

  • Book, cancel, and manage appointments and home visits

  • Register new patients and manage temporary registrations

  • Process prescriptions accurately and in line with practice protocols

  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail

  • Manage patient results and direct to appropriate clinicians

  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records (EMIS experience desirable)

  • Scan and file clinical correspondence

  • Ensure confidentiality, security, and patient data protection at all times

  • Open and close the premises when scheduled

  • Support clinical and admin teams with day-to-day duties and projects

  • Maintain the reception and waiting area to a high standard


What We’re Looking For Essential:
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent

  • Previous experience in Medical Administration or GP Receptionist Duties

  • Strong IT and communication skills

  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of EMIS clinical system


Additional Details
  • Flexibility to provide cover during holidays and sick leave required

  • This role may involve working outside core office hours on occasion (1x AM weekend shift required per year for flu vaccination clinics)
